Reflections and experiences of a Muslim mother. I started this blog to share some of my experiences as a new mom. At that time I had a daughter age 4 and a son age 2. Since then our family has expanded. My 3 children are now 16, 14 and 10 years old. Raising them has been every bit as rewarding as it has been challenging.
For the last 8 years I have homeschooled my children. Again the reward and again the challenge! But I love challenges. I love feeling that I am helping to build not just their educational foundation but also their Islamic one.

Good morning
I was just reading your post about the movie Thor.
I found it, incidentally, looking for a quote I once ready about how ludicrous it would be in the modern age to accuse someone who didn’t believe in Thor as being an infidel and blasphemer.
Thor is the Norse God of the Vikings. They believed in him, worshipped him and the stories and characters in this film came mostly from Norse religious texts and stories.
There are many icons from more obscure religions that you will encounter daily such as The Great God Pan from Paganism, Mars and many others.
I think you’ll find it very interesting and maybe inspiring to look beyond the better known religions and discover their belief structure, as believe it or not, their symbols influence our every day.
All the best and good luck with parenting. My son is 3 1/2 and he is all over the super hero thing. I’m trying to get him into Peppa Pig but he isn’t having any of it.
